Westbound I-70 Bridge Rehabilitations
Below are details, resources and news about the rehabilitations of the westbound I-70 bridge over Little Cedar Creek in Boone County and the westbound I-70 bridge over Cedar Creek in Callaway County, both located east of Columbia. Both bridges are 50 years old and reached a point where rehabilitation is necessary to extend the life and usability of the bridges by 15 years.
Project Details
When:
The project began in June, 2022 and was completed in September, 2022.
Cost:
The contract for the project was awarded for $764,430.
Work Taking Place:
Crews rehabilitated both westbound I-70 bridges over Little Cedar Creek in Boone County and Cedar Creek in Callaway County. Rehabilitation is necessary to extend the life and usability of the bridges by 15 years. Crews removed and replaced the existing asphalt wearing surface, repaired the bridge's substructure, applied an epoxy coating of substructure concrete, and repaired the sinking pavement on the approach to the bridge.
Project Milestones
On January 5, 2022, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the contract for the project to Capital Paving and Construction, which submitted the low bid of $764,430.
