Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO)

MoDOT is continually working to improve safety and alleviate congestion on its roadways. Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) consists of operational strategies and systems that aim to optimize safe, efficient, and reliable use of existing and planned transportation infrastructure.

MoDOT's TSMO program helps get people safely to where they want to go!

TSMO strategies help to improve roadways by directly addressing many of the root causes of recurring and non-recurring congestion. These strategies range from projects and tools, to policies and procedures, to organizational structure.

2025 MoDOT TSMO Summit:

On Oct. 7th and 8th MoDOT hosted it's first ever TSMO Summit, bringing together employees from across the state to talk TSMO. The summit allowed employees to network with coworkers from a variety of divisions and learn new methods for implementing TSMO strategies.

By bringing together a diverse group of individuals from across divisions and regions, new and exciting TSMO-related ideas were conceived and solutions to problems were presented. Team members were able to see what TSMO tools and strategies could be taken back and implemented in their everyday roles.
