We’re especially excited that four international teams – Argentina, England, Netherlands and Algeria – will establish base camps right here in our region. This global spotlight will bring hundreds of thousands of visitors to Missouri, and we’re committed to supporting safe, reliable transportation throughout the tournament.

What Travelers Need to Know
- Hundreds of thousands of visitors will be traveling into and through the region during the summer months. Increased traffic is expected to impact the entire state as high volumes of visitors travel between lodging and match venues.
- Nearly all state roadwork in the Kansas City region is happening off of the roadway during the tournament to maximize roadway capacity.
- Amtrak's Missouri River Runner will have an expanded 25% passenger capacity from June 15 through July 12 to accommodate increased ridership for World Cup matches.
- The 283-mile route between St. Louis and Kansas City includes stations in Kirkwood, Washington, Hermann, Jefferson City, Sedalia, Warrensburg, Lee’s Summit and Independence. Riders can plan their trip at moriverrunner.com.
- MoDOT will provide frequent public updates to help motorists make informed travel decisions.
- Follow statewide and district social media channels for the latest information.
- Check the Traveler Information Map for updates on work zones, traffic conditions and more statewide.
