Districts Impacted
Construction begins
Construction began on June 7 with the demolition of the bridge. Repairs are scheduled to to continue through November 2021.
This project is complete.
About the Project
This project will remove and replace the Route YY bridge over Interstate 70 in Saline County. The existing bridge, which was constructed in 1961, is in poor condition and has reached the end of its service life. Sections of the Route YY ramps are also in poor condition and will also be replaced. This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
Traffic Impacts
Route YY at the bridge will be closed during construction. Both lanes of I-70 in each direction will be open the majority of the time. When the existing Route YY bridge is removed, I-70 will be reduced to one lane in each direction and traveling on the ramps. Bridge removal is scheduled to occur on a couple of off-peak travel days.
The I-70 ramps at Route YY will be open, with the use of temporary pavement in some locations, during the majority of the project. Eastbound I-70 traffic wanting to go northbound at YY and westbound I-70 traffic wanting to go south on Route YY will be detoured to the Route K interchange.
