CALLAWAY COUNTY – Overnight travelers using Interstate 70 next week could experience lane closures as crews continue constructing the new bridge on Route D over the interstate.
A contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will close individual lanes of I-70 on the evening of Tuesday, September 8. Lanes will remain closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will start in the eastbound and westbound driving lanes and will transition into the passing lanes of both directions as work progresses.
Message boards will be in place alerting motorists of the lane closures. Drivers are asked to slow down, watch for crews and put away distractions in work zones.
The Route D bridge replacement is scheduled to be completed this fall. The project is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
