CALLAWAY COUNTY – Overnight Interstate 70 travelers could experience lane closures next week as crews install guardrail and remove temporary concrete barriers in the median and shoulders of the interstate as part of the new Route D bridge construction.
A contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will close individual lanes of I-70 on the evenings of Wednesday, September 23 through Friday, September 25. Lanes will remain closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Message boards will be in place alerting motorists of the lane closures. Drivers are asked to slow down, watch for crews and put away distractions in work zones.
The Route D bridge replacement is scheduled to be completed this fall. The project is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
