JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Contractors working with the Missouri Department of Transportation were able to reopen Missouri Route 151 in Centralia today. The roadway had been closed since Aug. 12 for the construction of the northern half of the roundabout being built at the intersection of Route 151 with Missouri Routes 22 and 124 in Boone County.
Because traffic is in a new configuration, drivers are urged to slow down and pay attention to new stop signs that will allow access from Route 151 and Route 124 to Route 22. This new traffic pattern also keeps all routes open while the southern half of the roundabout is constructed. A reduced speed limit is also in place through the intersection. Work is expected to continue through late October 2024.
During their June 2024 meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the $1,219,090.90 contract to Capital Paving & Construction, LLC to complete the new roundabout project.
More information about the project can be found at https://www.modot.org/missouri-route-151-missouri-route-22-and-missouri-route-124-roundabout-construction-boone-county.
All work is weather-permitting and subject to change.
