Route 179 at Rock Creek in Cole County opens ahead of schedule

Closed for bridge deck replacement April 20 - June 17

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – The Missouri Route 179 bridge over Rock Creek, just north of Cole County Route Z, is now open. After replacing the bridge deck, construction crews were able to reopen the bridge to all traffic on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 – ahead of schedule.

Crews from E & C Bridge, LLC, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, closed Route 179 over Rock Creek on April 20 to replace the bridge's driving surface. Built in 1936, the supporting structures of the bridge are in good condition. The driving surface, however, had deteriorated, was in poor condition, and needed to be replaced.

The new bridge deck has new concrete barriers and new guardrail at all four corners of the bridge.
