JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will CLOSE northbound Missouri Highway 291 at the 291 River Bridge diverting NB traffic to U.S. Highway 24 beginning at approx. 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18 until Thursday, August 20. All work is weather permitting.
This work is a part of a bigger project that will include replacement of the northbound bridge and rehabilitation of the southbound bridge. The northbound bridge (Liberty Bend Bridge) has been in use since 1949 and while safe, it is scheduled to be replaced to meet current design standards.
