Bridge 3250021 (Pierre Fleche Creek Bridge) over Pierre Fleche Creek is a ca. 1890 pin-connected, Pratt pony truss. The bridge is an example of a pin-connected Pratt pony truss bridge built in the late nineteenth century. The Pratt truss was primarily constructed during the nineteenth and early twentieth century. By 1916 they were the most commonly used bridge type for spans less than 250'. Although a common type, the bridge has significance as an early 19th century example of a pin-connected Pratt pony truss bridge type. It is also a good example as it retains its character-defining features such as the truss form, pin connections, top and bottom chords, vertical and diagonal members, and the floor beams and stringers. This bridge was determined to be eligible for listing on the NRHP through consultation between SHPO, FHWA and MoDOT in 2003 during consultation for the development of the historic bridge list.

The Saline County Commission is now accepting proposals for the relocation and reuse of the bridge or its components until April 27, 2026. A proposal checklist is available MoDOT’s Free Bridges website (http://www.modot.org/freebridges/). Preservation covenants may accompany the bridge. 

Return the form, along with 2-3 jpeg images of the bridge, to the MoDOT Historic Preservation Section at least 3 months prior to the end of the marketing period and at least 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the marketing period.
