JEFFERSON CITY - Rehabilitation of the Route 5 bridge over Petite Saline Creek and the Route O bridge over Moniteau Creek, both in Cooper County, is scheduled to begin soon. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $874,083 contract to Gene Haile Excavating, Inc. to rehabilitate both bridges.
Route 5:
- The contractor plans to begin work on May 28, 2024.
- Route 5 will be closed at the bridge with a signed detour using I-70, Route B and Route F.
- The contractor is allowed up to 30 consecutive calendar days to complete the work.
- The bridge is located south of Boonville.

Route O:
- The contractor plans to begin work early June.
- Route O will be closed to all traffic at the bridge and motorists will need to use an alternate route.
- The contractor is allowed up to 90 consecutive calendar days to complete the work.
- The bridge is northwest of California, north of Route H.
