The updated FHWA Range-wide Programmatic Agreement that includes tricolored bats was released in December 2024. To summarize changes:
- Most tree clearing is considered suitable habitat.
- Bridges within suitable forested habitat are considered suitable roost habitat.
- Culverts with inside diameters of at least 3 feet and at least 23 feet long are considered suitable roost habitat.
- More projects will be submitted to the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
- Mitigation costs have increased.
- Most winter tree clearing can start two weeks earlier than the current timeframe (October 16th instead of November 1st).
