Highway Commission Selects Team for Project to Rebuild/Improve 20 Bridges in Seven (7) Counties

Southwest District – The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission selected The ESS Team to improve 20 bridges in seven (7) counties in the Southwest District, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

There are 20 bridges in the bundle that will either be replaced or receive major rehabilitation work in these counties:

  • Bates
  • Benton
  • Cedar
  • Henry
  • Hickory
  • St. Clair
  • Vernon

Teams vied for the opportunity to design and build what is known as the Kaysinger Basin Bridge Bundle. Fourteen (14) bridges will be replaced and six (6) bridges will be rehabilitated. On average, these bridges have been in place for 70 years.

There are approximately 10,400 bridges on the state’s highway system. Nearly 804 of them are rated as “poor” by the Federal Highway Administration.

The ESS Team is a partnership of engineering and construction firms that will design and construct the project with oversight by MoDOT and the Federal Highway Administration.

ESS Team members are:

  • Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc.
  • Bartlett & West, Inc.

Construction of the $38 million project is scheduled to begin in late spring or early summer of 2025 with completion in November 2027.

Anyone interested in the project, or who would like to receive regular e-updates during construction, can visit the project website – Kaysinger Basin Bridge Bundle.
