ST. CHARLES COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the right lane on eastbound Interstate 70 from west of Wentzville Parkway to Route Z for tree clearing connected to the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project starting Monday, March 17. All work is weather permitting.
The eastbound I-70 lane closure occurs Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. in preparation for the realignment of I-70 between Wentzville Parkway and Route Z.
On I-64 in St. Charles County, crews will close the left lane in both directions between Route DD/Winghaven Boulevard and Route K overnight starting March 17 in preparation for the widening of I-64 between Route K and the I-70/I-64 interchange. The eastbound lane closes Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and the westbound lane closes Monday through Friday from 8:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
During daytime hours, all eastbound and westbound I-64 lanes will be open, but with narrowed lanes and concrete barrier walls on the shoulder.
Crews will also be clearing trees at the I-70/I-64/U.S. 61 interchange in preparation for the interchange reconstruction and at the I-64/Route 364 interchange in preparation for the widening of I-64 between the I-70/I-64/U.S.61 interchange and Route K. This work will occur during daytime hours but do not involve any lane closures.
The Improve I-70 Project covering the eastern portion of I-70 was awarded in November 2024. Construction is tentatively set to take place 2025-2028.
Missouri’s FY2024 budget from the General Assembly signed into law by Governor Parson provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue for the costs to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
