WARREN COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will close one eastbound Interstate 70 lane from the Route MM/Warrenton Boulevard interchange to the St. Charles County line as part of the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project starting Sunday, April 6. All work is weather permitting.
In preparation for the widening of I-70, the eastbound I-70 lane closure occurs nightly from 8 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. from Warrenton to Wright City and 8 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. from Wright City to the St. Charles County line. This work is expected to last for approximately two weeks.
The Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project covering the eastern portion of I-70 was awarded in November 2024. Construction is tentatively set to take place 2025-2028.
Missouri’s FY2024 budget from the General Assembly signed into law by the governor provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue for the costs to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
