Districts Impacted
The Laclede County Route B bridge over the Osage Fork of the Gasconade River was built in 1964. While the supporting structures are in good condition, the driving surface has deteriorated and needs replaced. The new bridge deck will be wider with new guardrails on all four corners.
PROJECT PROGRESS
The Missouri Department of Transportation and its consultant designed a new deck to extend the functional life of the bridge. The new deck will be wider at 26 feet (the existing structure is 24 feet). In addition, all four corners of the bridge will have new guardrail installed.
Public Meeting
An online, virtual public meeting was held Nov. 1 - 15. Downloadable exhibits outlined the work being planned and the proposed detour to be used during construction.
The public was invited to leave comments and questions for the project team, either online or by mail. Mailed-in comments should be postmarked on or before Nov. 15 and addressed to:

As part of their March 2024 meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $1,136,034.00 contract for this work to E & C Bridge, LLC. At that time the contractor was given an April 8, 2024, notice to proceed date - the earliest date they could begin work - and a Dec. 1, 2024, completion date.
Construction began Aug. 26 and was completed on Nov. 19, ahead of the expected Dec. 1, 2024, competition date. Route B over the Osage Fork was closed for the duration of construction with a signed detour in place.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why is MoDOT replacing the bridge deck?
The supporting elements of the bridge, built in 1964, are in good condition. However, the driving surface has deteriorated to a point where deck replacement is necessary. The new deck will be wider at 26 feet (the existing structure is 24 feet). In addition, all four corners of the bridge will have new guardrail installed.
How will the construction affect traffic?
The contractor will close the bridge to all traffic during construction, which is expected to take roughly 12 weeks. A signed detour will be posted over Missouri Routes 32 and 5 and Laclede County Route O.
Will the Long Ford River Access Area be open?
The Long Ford River Access Area, immediately south of the bridge, will remain open through the project. Access directly underneath the bridge may be restricted during some portions of the project.
