Right now, Missouri has a “no texting” law for drivers age 21 years and under. But distracted driving isn't just a young driver problem.

Approximately 70% of drivers using cell phones in Missouri traffic crashes were 22 years of age or older. We are challenging all drivers to honor that ban no matter what their age.

When a driver is texting and driving they are 23 times more likely to be in a critical incident (source: VA Tech).

With stats like that it’s time for businesses, communities, government agencies and individuals to accept the challenge.

Kentucky began using “Buckle Up, Phone Down” in 2019, modeled after the program in Missouri. Utilizing a mix of traditional, digital, out-of-home, and social media, the campaign quickly became our top message targeting behavior change.  Last year, Governor Andy Beshear proclaimed October 25 as “Buckle Up, Phone Down” Day.
