Springfield – Those interested in the Sunshine Street (Missouri Route 413) Bridge Replacement Project over MNA Railroad in Springfield are invited to a public meeting to discuss the traffic impacts during construction and project information on Thursday, March 13, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The come-and-go meeting will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at the Springfield Botanical Gardens, 2400 S Scenic Avenue, Springfield. No formal presentation is planned. Those who attend may come anytime between 4:30 and 6 p.m. to learn about the project and ask questions. This meeting was rescheduled from February 20 due to winter weather.
Those unable to attend the in-person meeting can view exhibits and get project information by visiting www.modot.org/southwest.

Project highlights:
- Replace Missouri Route 413 (Sunshine Street) bridge over MNA Railroad in Springfield
- Add/improve pedestrian facilities on both sides of the roadway from Scenic Avenue to Marion Avenue
Traffic impacts during construction:
- Route 413 (Sunshine Street) CLOSED from east of Scenic Avenue to west of Marion Avenue for up to 4 months during construction
- Detour: James River Freeway, Kansas Expressway, Chestnut Expressway, and U.S. Route 160
- Drivers are urged to use alternate routes during construction to avoid the work zone
- Electronic message boards and news releases will notify the public of traffic impacts
Construction is scheduled to begin on March 17, 2025.
The estimated project cost is $5.9 million.
