The state sponsors the Amtrak Missouri River Runner inter-city passenger service between St. Louis and Kansas City.  Missouri also has access points to two national Amtrak routes and another regional service between St. Louis and Chicago.  A comprehensive light rail service operates in St. Louis and a streetcar in Kansas City.  One additional light rail service is under construction: the St. Louis Loop Trolley. Plus, three excursion railroads operate in Missouri.
