Innovation Description and Benefit:
This innovation takes three separate reports that must be filled out each snow shift and condenses them into one. With less paper to keep track of and less information to write down, the driver can pay more attention to their surroundings and less time spent keeping track of which form has and has not been filled out. With the three forms consolidated into one, less time is spent on documenting the same information in three different locations. In addition, it cuts paper and ink usage by two thirds. With a simplified single form, workers can spend more time on preparing trucks, making repairs and driving out on the roads keeping them clear of snow and ice. This time savings helps improve safety for not just MoDOT employees by streamlining their start-up and shut-down procedures, but also the traveling public since there will be more time workers can spend out on the roads instead of filling out extra paperwork.
