Innovation Description and Benefit:
The MoDOT external awards program was established to recognize MoDOT’s top performing team members and projects. The department encourages team members to participate in award competitions through various agencies including the Federal Highway Administration, Missouri Office of Administration, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. Historically, award submissions were organized and tracked using a series of emails, email attachments and spreadsheets. This process was disorganized, time-consuming, and confusing. The Excellence in Action Awards Site website was developed in 2021 to create a centralized location for all MoDOT award nominations and submissions. The site allows nominators to submit documentation directly to Transportation Planning. The MoDOT Awards Coordinator can now filter entries by type and year then safely store all version histories in one place. The MoDOT Excellence in Action site was implemented in September 2022.
