The Work Zone Planning Tool is a simple, yet important process to effectively plan out a work zone using Google Maps. The person doing the planning creates a detailed map with labels, pins, and comments to build a detailed plan of how to achieve a safe and effective work zone for all the workers involved. This map has all the sign locations, flagger positions, and work area labeled and pinned. This allows the maintenance workers to get a correct sign count so they can avoid having to go back to the shed for equipment that was forgotten. This planning process also allows the team to see from an aerial view and get comfortable with how the work zone will be setup and what dangers to look out for.
