Trauma Kit

Submitted by: Kansas City District

Innovation Description and Benefit:

This innovation is a medical kit designed to be accompanied with a brush/tree cutting crew, where the risks of life-threatening injuries due to chain saws are elevated. This would be an improvement of process to our current equipment where if a life-threatening incident occurs on a job site, tools are available to reduce the traumatic bleeding and injury. This Trauma kit provides essential tools to reduce and stop bleeding associated with traumatic injuries. Current first aid kits do not have the capability to control arterial bleeding, hemorrhaging or sucking chest wounds. Arterial bleeding is the highest risk associated with operation of a chain saw and chippers which can lead to unconsciousness in 20 seconds if not stopped. This trauma kit has lifesaving possibilities and is packaged in a durable, waterproof pelican hard case for job site durability.
