Innovation Description and Benefit:
This innovation is a new program interface and calculation software for inputting the data required to create the bill of reinforcing that becomes a part of most bridge and culvert plans. The program replaces an outdated and unmaintained program and creates a more user-friendly format that will make the process of entering data more efficient. The new Barbill Input Program will not cost the Department anything monetarily but will require periodic updates to keep up with changes to our internal processes. In addition, the new program incorporates updates that have been made to the EPG to standardize the bridge barriers. The bar sizes and shapes are input for the user once they select a barrier type, and this saves significant time and redundancy from inputting these similar values by hand for each set of bridge plans.
